Recent transfer rumours have increased speculation about Manuel Neuer moving to the Premier League.
The goalkeeper is a big favourite of manager Pep Guardiola, who has been in charge of Bayern Munich for the last three years. However, he has revealed his next destination to be Manchester City from the summer. Guardiola will be taking over from Manuel Pellegrini and this will be his first job in English football. City have an extremely competent goalkeeper in the form of Joe Hart, but his performances have not been great of late. He remains an extremely good shot stopper, but Guardiola will look for more ball playing abilities from his goalkeeper.
Neuer fits exactly into this requirement just like Victor Valdes at Barcelona. Even though there were several concerns about the quality of Valdes as a top notch goalkeeper, he performed exceptionally well under the regime of Guardiola since his qualities were fine-tuned by the Catalan manager.Neuer has also become immensely successful under the regime of the former Barcelona manager. Since he has a contract that runs only until the summer of 2017, there are suggestions of a potential move happening in the summer. Bayern will face a huge fight in order to keep him and they are at a disadvantaged position due to the less time remaining on the player’s contract.
"Manuel Neuer will be the goalkeeper at Bayern Munich for the next five, six, seven, eight or nine years. That's my hunch. I haven't asked him about this, I don't know what he thinks. But I think he could stay at Bayern Munich for the rest of his career. There will be no Manchester discounts." said Guardiola while rejecting the possibility of Manuel Neuer joining Manchester City. Since his move to the Allianz Arena,Neuer has been immensely successful by winning three league titles and a Champions League medal.
