Michael Carrick has said that the Manchester United players should not take the Liverpool team lightly in their next match. These two teams will play against each other on Sunday at the Anfield.

The performance of the Liverpool team has been pretty dismal in the current season so far. The team is looking weak in every department and the players are making a number of mistakes in almost every match. The team is lacking the firepower up front, while, the defense is also not looking too strong.

But, Carrick thinks that the Liverpool players have got the capability to make a strong comeback in the competition. Carrick said, “They are a very good unit. They haven’t got much success in the ongoing season so far, but, they shouldn’t be taken lightly. They are good enough to come back in the tournament strongly.”

The performance of Liverpool was quite poor in the last season as well. Due to that, Kenny Dalgish, the previous manager of Liverpool, was terminated from his post and Brendan Rodgers was appointed as the new manager of the team in June this year. But, there hasn’t been any improvement in the team’s performance even after the change of Manager.

Brendan Rodgers is also facing a bit of criticism for Liverpool’s poor performance since the start of the current season. Eight goals have been scored against the Liverpool team in the four Premier League matches that the team has played in the ongoing season.

Everybody knows about the rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool. When asked about that, Carrick said, “It is going to be a big match for both the teams for sure. We are keen to beat Liverpool on its home ground. But, it’s not going to be easy. We will have to be at our toes in that match; otherwise, we will struggle to beat them.”
